Dental implantsthe surgical stage of a smile rehabilitation, Paris 8

An implant replaces a missing root: it is the surgical stage that then makes it possible to rebuild a complete smile, both aesthetic and functional. Dr Laura Zeitoun Saal, who holds a postgraduate diploma (DU) in reconstructive bone surgery techniques (2017), performs these treatments in Paris 8 as part of a smile rehabilitation project.

What is a dental implant?

An implant is a small titanium screw placed in the jawbone that replaces the root of a missing tooth and then supports a crown.

Once integrated into the bone, the implant provides a fixed, stable and lasting solution — without touching the neighbouring teeth, unlike a conventional bridge. It is often a cornerstone of a smile rehabilitation.

When is it used?

  • Replacing a missing tooth without trimming the neighbours.
  • Replacing several teeth, or stabilising a denture.
  • A step in a full smile rehabilitation.

How the treatment works

01

Assessment & imaging

Examination, 3D imaging and a personalised treatment plan.

02

Implant placement

Surgical placement of the implant, under local anaesthesia.

03

Healing

The implant integrates with the bone over a few weeks to a few months.

04

Fitting the crown

The bespoke crown is fitted onto the implant.

Result & longevity

With good hygiene and regular follow-up, an implant can last many years. Success rests on a thorough diagnosis and careful maintenance.

The implant within a rehabilitation project

Replacing a missing root is not an end in itself: it is what then makes it possible to rebuild the smile as a whole — shape, shade, proportions and function. The smile remains the thread throughout; the implant is its surgical stage.
